Gary Grief, executive Director of the Texas Lottery, stated that Mega Millions sales have been strong for Texas Lottery throughout the current jackpot run. This will provide much-needed revenue for Texas public education. We are hoping that Tuesday night’s drawing will bring excitement and that the winner of this prize is a Texas Lottery(r). We want to remind players to be responsible. You only need one ticket to win.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw will be the 29th. The current Mega Millions jackpot has been running since April 19, 2021, when it was an annuitized $20,000,000. This Mega Millions jackpot is the biggest since Jan. 22, 2021, when it was an estimated $1.05 Billion. It’s the second-largest prize in the game. The first-largest Mega Millions jackpot prize was won by an outsider.

Since 2003, Texas has seen 13 Mega Millions jackpot winners. The most recent Mega Millions jackpot winner was a Leander resident who won $227 million in an annuity. This is the largest prize Texas Lottery has ever paid to one player.

Five Texas Lottery players, including two from the current jackpot run, have won second-tier Mega Millions prizes in the $1 million range. One resident of Houston claimed a $1,000510 second-tier prize in the May 13 drawing, while an Ingram resident claimed the $2 million second-tier prize in the June 17 drawing.

Mega Millions can be played by selecting five numbers from a 70-number field and one Mega Ball number (from the second field of 25 numbers). Players must match six numbers, including the Mega Ball, to win the Mega Millions Jackpot. While players may not win the Mega Millions jackpot if they match fewer numbers, they could still be winners. Mega Millions has a starting jackpot of $20 million and a second-tier prize (Match 5+0), worth $1 million. For $1 more per play, players can multiply non-jackpot winnings up to five times by choosing Megaplier(r).

Mega Millions drawings are broadcast every Tuesday and Friday at 10.12 p.m. CT. Texas Lottery members can purchase Mega Millions tickets at more Texas Lottery retailers throughout the state. The last Mega Millions ticket sales will be at 9:45 PM CT on Tuesday, 27 July. A retailer who sells a Mega Millions jackpot winning ticket can receive a bonus up to $1 million.
